The Tjapukai dancers have performed hundreds of times in over 30 countries all over the world.  Tjapukai has performed twice for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and a number of times at Australia’s premier tourism showcase, the Australian Tourism Exchange.

I joined the Tjapukai Company in April 1996 as a Food & Beverage Attendant before moving to my true calling as a Cultural Presenter. Since those days I’ve advanced to the position of Senior Cultural Presenter/Host and Mentor to our junior staff. One of the best things about Tjapukai is you get to work with my family and friends, meeting people and learning about their culture, and travel to various countries like Japan, Singapore and Taiwan. I have also had the opportunity to meet and perform for HRH Queen Elizabeth II/Prince Phillip.

Throughout my years with Tjapukai I have toured Europe, U.S.A and Asia also meeting, performing and being selected to deliver a speech on reconciliation for HRH Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip in 2002. Highlights of my career are performing at the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in 1994 and being the 3rd person to carry the Olympic torch in Athens in 2000. I am currently a senior Cultural Presenter and also represent the long term employees on the Tjapukai Board of Directors.

Career Highlights - Being “The Face of Tjapukai”.  Working with family and friends, meeting people from different countries and cultures. Touring places like Singapore and Taiwan.

Martha Brim (Djabugay) 

Totem Name:  Garna - Black Cockatoo                                    
Commenced at Tjapukai:  1996

I am a descendant of the Djabugay Tribe and originally started with the company in 1996 as a junior Cultural Presenter. Nowadays I am the senior responsible for training all new female performers, one of which is my sister Georgina. When I’m not performing I am also a Host sharing cultural information with groups and other customers. My face is on the “Tjapukai Photo” board at the front entrance of the Park, promotional Brochures, Beverage Lists in the Restaurant, Tjapukai Internet site. Working at Tjapukai gives me the opportunity to work with my family and friends, meet people from different countries and not only share my culture with them but also learn a little about theirs.

I am a descendant of the Djabugay Tribe. Working at Tjapukai gives me the opportunity to meet people from different countries and get to work with my family, especially my beautiful sister Martha who inspires me. In 2006 I had the opportunity to be part of the Australian Tourism commercial

The good thing about Tjapukai is that I get to work with my family (cousin brothers – Dennis, Glen, Brett and Selwyn) and friends, meeting people from different countries and learning a little about their culture.

Prior to joining Tjapukai I performed with my families’ dance troupe for a few years. The most exciting things about Tjapukai is that I get to meet people from different countries and not only share my culture with them but also learn a little about them.

I originally started with Tjapukai in the Retail Department and completed Certificate III in Retail Operations. After completing 3 months of training, I joined the Operations Department as a Cultural Presenter/Host in 2007. Working at Tjapukai makes me proud of who I am.
